DELUSION confirms Disney+ 2026 release date

Delusion is officially headed to Disney+ in 2026.

The live-action adaptation of the gothic thriller webtoon Delusion has faced a winding road to production, beginning with major casting changes. When the project was first announced, producers extended offers to Ryu Junyeol and Han Sohee to lead the series. However, following public scrutiny of their romantic relationship, including cryptic social media posts and the revelation of Ryu’s past with actress Hyeri, the pair chose to step away from the project after confirming their breakup.

In July 2024, Bae Suzy received an offer to play Song Jeonghwa but initially declined due to scheduling conflicts. She later reversed her decision and accepted the role. A month after Suzy’s casting, Kim Seonho was offered the role of Yun Iho, marking the first time the two stars will reunite on screen since their appearance in Start-Up four years ago. As of May 2025, both actors are confirmed for their respective roles.

Directed and written by Han Jae-rim, the series is being produced by Showbox and Magnum Nine.

Originally created by Hongjacga, Delusion debuted on the Korean Naver WEBTOON platform in 2019 and launched in English in 2021 with all 60 episodes available. The story has since amassed over 10 million views.

Set in 1935 Gyeongseong, Delusion follows Yun Iho, a struggling artist commissioned to paint the portrait of the reclusive Madame Jeonghwa. Contrary to rumors, she is not an elderly woman but instead asks Yun to depict her as one. As Yun spends more time in her eerie mansion, he discovers a disturbing truth: no artist has ever left her home alive—or sane. He soon begins to question whether he’ll survive long enough to finish the painting.
