This may be OOC for Seven Seas Entertainment, but fans definitely aren’t complaining.
Buzz about a deluxe hardcover edition of The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System broke out earlier when eagle-eyed fans spotted the listing on Penguin Random House. Seven Seas cheekily responded with a smirking emoji, teasing what was to come. To wrap up their Wonderful Wednesday announcements, the publisher confirmed that The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System is getting a deluxe hardcover box set release.
Every volume will come with dust jackets featuring all-new art and foil details, gorgeous printed edges, foil-stamped hardcovers, and ribbon bookmarks. The illustrated slipcase includes a mini artbook and two brand-new mini posters, making this release an absolute treasure. Each limited edition box set will also be individually numbered. Velinxi and special guest artists will provide the stunning new artwork for this release.
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System was one of the first danmei titles Seven Seas licensed, debuting alongside two other Mo Xiang Tong Xiu series back in August 2021. The first volume landed at #14 on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Paperback Trade Fiction during its release week. Despite being the first novel MXTX ever wrote, it’s the last to receive a deluxe rerelease announcement—Heaven Official’s Blessing: Tian Guan Ci Fu was announced in May 2024, and Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation: Mo Dao Zu Shi followed in April 2025. Scum Villain, however, is the only one getting the box set treatment.
The beloved xianxia comedy follows Shen Yuan, who’s so furious after reading the last chapter of Proud Immortal Demon Way that he… dies. He wakes up to find himself reborn inside the novel as Shen Qingqiu, the cruel master of protagonist Luo Binghe, a half-demon destined to conquer both the human and demon realms with his harem in tow. Now, Shen Qingqiu has only one goal: stay alive by staying in Luo Binghe’s good graces.
The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System: Ren Zha Fanpai Zijiu Xitong (Deluxe Hardcover Novel) hits shelves in February 2026, priced at $139.99 USD / $189.99 CAD.
