LAFTEL offered a sneak peek of the first episode.
While it’s unfortunate that international viewers can’t watch the animated adaptation of Red Fox, Laftel gave fans a glimpse of what viewers in Korea can see. The animation isn’t quite as seamless as a traditional anime, with a motion comic style, but it’s definitely beautiful. The soundtrack and talented voice actors bring Red Fox to life in all its bloodiness.
Due to its mature content, viewers can only watch the preview on YouTube.
The adaptation premiered on LAFTEL on May 19 following days of teasers, including a soundtrack PV sung by Ahn Ye Eun and an interview with writer/illustrator HAMA. Launching with the first three episodes, Red Fox will subsequently release episodes in batches of three every Monday.
Red Fox originally launched on Tappytoon but was later removed from the library. Readers who bought it during its licensing window can still access it, but new readers must wait until another English-language platform acquires the rights. A sequel exists, but it also hasn’t been released on any English-language platform.
The story is set in the fictional country of Ibana where a fox demon encounters a mother who sacrifices herself to protect her daughter. As a creature who has spent hundreds of years preying on humans and seeing their dark sides, the fox demon is bewildered by this act of love and begins watching over Sana, the orphaned girl. Is it a love story? Yes and no. It explores the concept of love in an unconventional setting filled with blood and violence.
Red Fox can be viewed exclusively on LAFTEL.
