Lu Xu makes his debut on LEGEND OF EXORCISM Vol. 3 cover

The White Deer descends on Seven Seas Entertainment’s danmei line.

Seven Seas Entertainment has unveiled the cover for Volume 3 of Legend of Exorcism: Tianbao Fuyao Lu, and with it, the graceful arrival of a new character: Lu Xu, the reincarnated White Deer and god of dreams.

Illustrated by Ruthie (kkcoocool), the cover captures an ethereal moment. Lu Xu stands with eyes closed and head tilted, draped in flowing white robes. At his side, Hongjun looks downward, hands clutched to his chest, a hint of concern on his brow. Ruthie also provides the interior illustrations for the volume.

Legend of Exorcism, written by Arise Zhang (also known as Fei Tian Ye Xiang), first debuted in English on March 18, 2025. Lily and Louise return as the series translators. This is one of six titles by Arise Zhang that Seven Seas has licensed.

Guardian of Dreams

The synopsis of Vol. 3 reads as follows:

With the help of Mergen, Hongjun and Li Jinglong have successfully roused the ghost king from his waking dream—but the danger is not yet over. The group soon learns that the one responsible for entrapping the ghost king is none other than the white deer Mergen seeks, a god of dreams who has fallen under the sway of the mysterious yao king. Worse still, the yao king has used the deer’s power to take control of the ghost king’s army, and more undead soldiers are on the way.

Before they can formulate a plan, Lu Xu, the fleet-footed scout Mergen rescued on the northern border, sets off alone in the snow. When Hongjun goes after him, he too finds himself snared in a nightmare of the enemy’s making—a vision of his own forgotten past that will upend everything he thought he knew about himself, his parents, and even Li Jinglong.

Set in the same universe as Dinghai Fusheng Records, also published by Seven Seas, Legend of Exorcism follows Hongjun, a half-yao who leaves the Taihang Mountains to serve in the Great Tang Department of Demonic Exorcism in Chang’an. There, he meets Li Jinglong, an unlucky commander leading a ragtag team of exorcists. As Hongjun battles dark forces and grows closer to Li Jinglong, he begins to fear that Li may never accept his true nature.
