Class is in session once again.

According to Naver, the webtoon-based drama Study Group will return for another term. The first season premiered earlier this year and received an outpouring of love. Studio Dragon, the production company, shared that it’s considering a new format—possibly an interquel—to bridge Season 1 and Season 2. While they haven’t confirmed the exact format, they have begun early planning for the next season.

Premiering on January 23 with 10 episodes, Season 1 of Study Group follows a first-year student named Yoon Gamin who wants to trade his powerful fists for strong grades. Although he’s passionate about studying, academics don’t come easily to him, so he forms a study group to help him achieve his dream of getting into university.

Hwang Minhyun plays the determined Yoon Gamin, who meets Lee Han Kyung, a temporary teacher portrayed by Han Ji Eun. She joins Yusung Technical High School, a place often called “the school for future criminals.” Moved by Yoon Gamin’s determination, she chooses to support his study group. Gamin isn’t alone—students like Kim Sehyun (Lee Jonghyun), Lee Jiwoo (Shin Suhyun), Choi Heewon (Yoon Sangjeong), and Lee Jun (Gong Do-hyun) join his academic mission. Cha Woo-min, who plays Pi Hanwool, earned a Baeksang Arts Award nomination for Best New Actor. As of now, the cast’s return for Season 2 has not been confirmed.

Study Group is part of the Blue String Universe, the second webtoon universe from YLAB, which focuses on teenagers and young adults. Writer Shin Hyungwuk created the story, while Ryu Seungyeon handled the illustrations. The webcomic launched on WEBTOON on November 13, 2021, and is currently ongoing in its second season.
