Original BL animation MIGNON becomes available on Vimeo again

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Mignon, the original BL animation created by Bboong Bbang Kkyu. The series first premiered on Vimeo on August 11, 2023, but was abruptly taken down just twelve days later, on August 23. According to production studio ABJ Company, the removal stemmed from “issues with the creator’s former agency.”

Mignon found a temporary new home on Laftel on November 1, 2023, though access was restricted to viewers in Korea. Now, the fan-favorite series has finally returned to Vimeo—and this time, hopefully for good.

Set in an underground boxing arena, Mignon follows a skilled young fighter of the same name who brawls night after night. Though the fights are brutal, Mignon doesn’t mind the pain—it gives him an excuse to visit the cold, handsome doctor on-site. As their paths continue to cross, Mignon begins to suspect that the doctor is hiding a secret about his true identity. Oh Minhyeok and Kim Minju voice Mignon and the doctor, respectively.

Bboong Bbang Kkyu made their debut with Hyperventilation, a 2017 short animation series consisting of six three-minute episodes. It told a tender story of longing between two former classmates who reunite a decade after graduation. The animation inspired both a manhwa and a short story adaptation. In 2018, the creator released Unbelievable Space Love, a dreamlike narrative where two unnamed men reflect on their seven-year relationship, raising questions about memory, reality, and whether love needs to be “real” to matter.
