Dear Hongrang‘s Jaeyi is wrestling with a question: Could this really be her long-lost half brother, Hongrang?

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Dear Hongrang, the drama adaptation of the webnovel written by JANG dahye. The television series stars Lee Jaewook as the titular character, who returns after 12 years (10 years in the webcomic) with no memory of his past. But is he really Hongrang? Jo Bo Ah’s Jaeyi can’t help feeling suspicious of this stranger who claims to be her brother and questions whether he’s truly who he says he is.

In the trailer, Jaeyi says softly, “I do not wish to lose you,” as Hongrang seemingly responds in a tormented voice, “If I do not break their hold, I will never be free.” The two stand across from each other in a snowy field as Jaeyi adds, “Whether you are an imposter or not, I hope you are no longer in pain.”

The cast also includes Uhm Jiwon as Hongrang’s mother, Jung Garam as Mu Jin, Park Byungeun as Shim Yeol Guk, and Kim Jaewook as Grand Prince Han Pyeong.

Dear Hongrang tells the story of a man who reunites with his family after a decade-long disappearance. Jaeyi, who has spent those years desperately searching for her brother, is stunned when a man shows up claiming to be Hongrang, despite his memory being completely wiped. Although everyone around her believes Hongrang has finally come home, Jaeyi senses something… off about her “brother.” But as she digs deeper into the truth, she finds herself increasingly drawn to him.

Manta adapted the webnovel into a webcomic, with Hottu as the artist and Dokjin writing the adaptation. Manta Comics handled the localization. The webcomic began serialization in June 2024 and is still ongoing. Fans can read the series by subscribing to Manta Comics.

Dear Hongrang premieres on Netflix on May 16. Before diving into the K-drama, check out the webcomic on Manta!
