eigoMANGA, a production and publishing company specializing in original comic books, animation, and media, has launched a Kickstarter for Oldman by Chang Sheng. The campaign aims to bring all volumes of the acclaimed series to readers worldwide.

According to the Kickstarter, Oldman is a dark fantasy about a beautiful queen who rules her country as a despot. Unmarried and without an heir, she repeatedly adopts orphans to prove that even commoners can become kings. But as the queen shows no signs of aging and her adopted children begin to vanish, a sinister truth begins to surface. Only one person knows her secret: the court magician known as Oldman, who begins the story imprisoned deep within the palace dungeon.

Oldman escapes by outwitting the guards and making it seem as though he vanished through magic. Along the way, he rescues a fellow prisoner—a woman who has lost her arms and legs. After helping his new ally get fitted with mechanical limbs, Oldman vows to take revenge on the queen. As the campaign puts it, “This isn’t just a fantasy tale—it’s a powerful story about lost time, stolen lives, and defying the system that betrayed you.”

Oldman has earned multiple awards, including the International Manga Award in Japan and the Golden Comic Award for Best Shonen Manga.

Chang Sheng studied drawing and oil painting at Fu-Hsin Trade and Arts School and cites Yukinobu Hoshino as a key influence. His art style has received praise for its intricate detail and realism. Another of his works, YAN, is set to debut this June from Titan Manga.
