Park Ji Hyun may be cast as Cha Jiyoon in the Back to Work! drama adaptation.

According to Naver, Park Ji Hyun is currently considering the role of Cha Jiyoon in the upcoming drama adaptation of Back to Work!. Her agency has confirmed that she has received the offer, but has yet to confirm whether she will take on the role. This follows news earlier this week that Seo In Guk has been offered the male lead role of Kang Siwoo, though, like Park, he has not yet confirmed his involvement.

Park, who debuted in 2017 with roles in the film Control and dramas like Saimdang, Memoir of Colors and The King in Love, is no stranger to webcomic-to-drama adaptations. If she accepts the role of Cha Jiyoon, it will mark her second such project, having previously portrayed Seo Sae-in in the 2021 drama Yumi’s Cells. Park has been nominated for several awards, including Best New Actress at the 2018 Blue Dragon Film Awards and the 2020 SBS Drama Awards.

Back to Work!, written and illustrated by McQueen Studio, follows the office romance of Cha Jiyoon, a woman in her 30s who has been working at her corporate job for five years. With mounting pressure to find a suitable husband, Jiyoon faces the dilemma of choosing between her cold supervisor and her artistic ex-boyfriend. But wouldn’t it be easier to just relax with some chimaek (fried chicken and beer) instead?

The webcomic has been serialized for three years, with 140 episodes planned, and is set to conclude on October 31, 2024. McQueen Studio, the creator behind Aquaman and Secret Relationships, has also seen success with their live-action adaptations.

While it will be a while before fans see Kang Siwoo and Cha Jiyoon on screen, they can enjoy their story on Tapas in the meantime.
