Seven Seas reveals haunting and traumatic cover for HEAVEN OFFICIAL’S BLESSING Vol. 6 hardcover

It’s one of the scenes all Heaven Official’s Blessing fans dread reading—and Seven Seas has decided to hurt readers even more with the new hardcover cover reveal.

The publisher unveiled the cover for Tian Guan Ci Fu: Heaven Official’s Blessing Vol. 6 (hardcover edition). Depicted in a fiery pit with hundreds of hands desperately clawing for purchase, Hua Cheng carries Xie Lian in his arms, the latter pierced through the stomach by a sword. Looming in the background is the ominous figure of White No-Face.

Artist Arisk_k illustrated the dust jacket, while Za Nian created the art for the hardcover, painted edges, and endpapers. The hardcover itself is silver, featuring Hua Cheng and Xie Lian standing closely together under the branches of a tree. A quote graces the cover: “What matters is you, not the state of you.” The painted edges show Hua Cheng in his iconic red robes with part of Xie Lian’s arm visible—splattered gruesomely with blood.

For context, the paperback edition of Vol. 6 was less stabby, but no less heart-wrenching, featuring an intimate hug between Xie Lian and Hua Cheng

The synopsis of Vol. 6 reads as follows:

White No-Face, Xie Lian’s greatest fear and most hated enemy, has arrived…or so it seems. While the ghost with the half-crying, half-smiling mask is somewhere nearby, the creature is elusive as always, taunting Xie Lian from just out of reach and promising the total destruction of everything he holds dear.As Xie Lian confronts the trauma of his last encounter with the terrifying ghost, Hua Cheng will do anything in his power to protect him. Written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, Heaven Official’s Blessing is the third danmei novel series from the author. It follows Xie Lian, a scrap-collecting god who is the butt of jokes from gods, demons, and humans alike. Once the beloved crown prince of Xianle, Xie Lian fell from grace—twice. Now, 800 years later, he ascends once more and is assigned his first task involving a ghost bride. Along the way, he encounters Hua Cheng, a dangerous Ghost King whose jangly boots strike fear into all, except Xie Lian, whose heart responds in other ways.

The first volume landed at #8 on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Paperback Trade Fiction. Seven Seas began rereleasing the series in hardcover starting in December 2024. Heaven Official’s Blessing has also inspired a manhua (available on Lezhin) and a donghua (streaming on Crunchyroll).

Vol. 6 is set to hit bookstores in September 2025.
