Originally written by Dalseul with art by Surreuk Comics and localization by Manta Comics, It Was Just a Contractual Marriage throws readers straight into the action. The story follows Elisabetta Aseika—known as “Elise”—who is transported into an enemy camp by her twin brother in a desperate attempt to save her. Things quickly go from bad to worse when Elise accidentally kills an enemy soldier. Facing dire consequences, she meets Archduke Lesset, who escorts her to the capital for a formal execution. In a last-ditch effort to survive and fulfill her dying promise to her possibly deceased brother, Elise claims she is pregnant with the Archduke’s child.

The first season premiered on Manta Comics on February 26, 2024, and concluded on September 2 with 41 episodes. Season 2 launched shortly after on October 10.
