Treetrunk Books, a new webcomic by K-Comic Beat’s very own Masha Zhdanova, is now available on WEBTOON Canvas.
Set near the fictional Bellvale University, Treetrunk Books centers on the only bookstore in the world that has grown around the mythical Tree of Knowledge—a rare tree whose golden apples absorb information from their surroundings. The shop is run by Sadie Smidgeon, affectionately known as Smidge, the great-granddaughter of founder Bernhard Mackindrod, who opened the store a century ago.
Employees harvest the apples and transcribe any valuable information onto paper. However, the apples often soak up random or useless facts instead. Although it’s technically Smidge’s job to cut the apples before each shift, they tend to double as a free breakfast for the staff.
With four episodes currently available, readers are introduced to Worms, the shop’s newest hire, who excels at customer service and, amusingly, has a surprisingly common name.
