The highly anticipated K-Drama adaptation of the popular webcomic The First Night with the Duke has revealed its first official poster.
Starring Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun and 2PM’s Taecyeon as Cha Sun Chaek (Ripley in the English version) and Yi Beon (Zeronis in the English version), the poster captures the romantic tone of the series. The two leads share a tender embrace beneath a dreamy pink night sky, their gazes locked with undeniable chemistry.
The series is set to premiere on June 11.
According to Soompi‘s translation, the romance between Cha Sun Chaek and Yi Beon will transcend time, space, dimension, and destiny. “We hope to bring to life the modern viewers’ fantasy of escaping the real world.” Based on the poster, the drama adaptation has also changed the setting to that of the Joseon Dynasty rather than a Western setting as was in the original story.
Based on the original work written by Hwang DoTol, The First Night with the Duke was turned into a webtoon with Teava helming the adaptation and MSG illustrating the artwork. The webtoon concluded on August 21, 2022, with 84 main story episodes and 18 spin-off chapters. Amassing over 113.8 million views, WEBTOON describes the story as follows:
A handsome, selfish noble falls for a beautiful, kind commoner — at least, that’s how the story’s supposed to go. When an average college student wakes up as Ripley, an extra in her favorite romance novel, she resolves to enjoy the luxuries of her character’s status while watching the novel’s plot unfold from the sidelines. However, her plans are soon derailed when she finds herself in bed with no other than Duke Zeronis, the novel’s hero! Dodging the villainess’ schemes, the Duke’s advances, and her own feelings, can Ripley keep the story on track and survive beyond the first night?
