KATSEYE’s Lara has publicly come out as queer in a heartfelt post on Weverse, sparking an outpouring of love from fans.
In her post, Lara shared:
“I knew I was half fruitcake when I was like 8, so I really was wanting everybody. Honestly, probably before 8. Isn’t half fruitcake such a good way to explain it without saying it?”
Fans, known as EYEKONS, embraced Lara’s revelation with enthusiasm, calling it “revolutionary for K-pop” and praising her for paving the way for future idols. Many also adopted her playful phrase, with one fan saying, “Half fruitcake is officially my new favorite way to say bi.” Others flooded Weverse with messages of support, including, “We’re so proud of Lara and adore her so much!” and “Lara, we love and support you so much.”
KATSEYE, a six-member global girl group formed through a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records, has been making waves since their debut in June 2024. The group—comprising Manon, Sophia, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae—represents a mix of cultures, with members hailing from the Philippines, South Korea, Switzerland, and the United States. Since their debut single “Debut,” followed by their hit song “Touch,” KATSEYE has continued to captivate audiences worldwide.
