Before the album’s release, Jennie sat down with Apple Music for an interview, where she opened up about her journey of self-discovery and the creative process behind Ruby. She reassured BLACKPINK fans that they did not need to view the members separately, emphasizing the love they share for one another. Jennie also praised her bandmate Rosé’s solo album, rosie, which recently dropped.
Jennie debuted in 2016 as BLACKPINK’s main rapper and lead vocalist with the release of their single album Square One. In 2018, she launched her solo career with the digital single Solo. She founded her own label, Odd Atelier, in December 2023. Shortly after, she announced that she had not renewed her individual contract with YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s agency. While the group continues to promote under YG, Jennie now manages her solo projects through Odd Atelier.
Jennie’s Ruby is now available to stream on Apple Music.
