It’s kind of poetic that Seven Seas has licensed Be a Light in the Dark Sea considering the main character is living underwater.
As part of their Wonderful Wednesday announcements, Seven Seas certainly made a shocking (but welcome) announcement: they licensed Be a Light in the Dark Sea, a webnovel that first appeared on Munpia, Korea’s largest webnovel platform. Written by Softcoral, Be a Light in the Dark Sea will release Vol. 1 sometime in April 2026.
Be a Light in the Dark Sea follows a quiet and introverted dentist named Park Mu-hyun who decides life is better underwater, specifically the underwater station called The North Pacific International Undersea Base (NPIUS). Unfortunately, life has other plans for him when water starts leaking into his new home just five days and a mysterious cult group launches a vicious attack on the station. Park Mu-hyun makes a run for it with nothing but the backpack he grabbed and must now find some way to survive the chaos.
Be a Light in the Dark Sea is the publisher’s second licensed Korean novel, following Lout of Count’s Family, which debuted with Vol. 1 in September 2024.
Seven Seas also announced the audiobook release of their first Thai BL series, KinnPorsche, with Tommy Fuller (Mule Tide and Court of Ravens) narrating. This will be part of their Siren Imprint.
Written by Daemi, KinnPorsche is a steamy romance centered around Porsche, an orphan whose life is thrown into disarray when he witnesses a gang beating up a young man behind the bar that he works at. The young man is Kinn who is the second son of a crime family and offers Porsche a deal: be Kinn’s personal bodyguard and all of the debt that Porsche has inherited from his uncle’s gambling will be absolved. It’s a deal that’s impossible to say no to even though Porsche knows that he’ll be stepping into Kinn’s world which is full of danger and violence.
Be a Light in the Dark Sea will release its first volume in April 2026 and is priced at $19.99 USA and $25.99 CAN. Seven Seas will release the KinnPorsche audiobook on April 10, 2025.
