Solo Leveling is continuing to get more and more popular and with it going from webnovel to webcomic to anime to video game, a live-action is inevitable.

Rumors about a live-action adaptation of Solo Leveling have circulated for some time. Heaeun Kwak, the D&C Webtoon creative director, mentioned in a French interview that a live-action adaptation is in the works. And that’s still the case with Kakao Entertainment‘s news although they have confirmed that their media division is actively involved in the planning, development, and scriptwriting, and that Solo Leveling will be reimagined in a live-action drama. Kakao Entertainment has not yet announced news about casting, staff details, or the release date.

In the meantime, fans can watch the anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures. The second season is currently airing on Crunchyroll and has already received positive reception for the animation quality in the first few episodes. And if anime isn’t your thing, Solo Leveling also has an RPG called Solo Leveling: Arise that also has new lore that isn’t included in the webcomic.

Written by ChugongSolo Leveling began as a webnovel on KakaoPage on July 25, 2016 before being turned into a webcomic on March 4, 2018 with Dubu as the artist who later passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage. The webnovel and webcomic have attracted a massive following on their respective platforms.

The story is set in a world were powerful humans called Hunters protect the world from monsters that emerge out of portals called Gates. One such Hunter, Sung Jinwoo, has earned the nickname of the ‘world’s weakest Hunter.’ During a double dungeon, Jinwoo receives an opportunity of a lifetime when he becomes a player in a system that will allow him to get stronger and level up without a limit.

After the conclusion of Solo Leveling, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok was released, with Daul writing the sequel with Chugong’s blessing. A webcomic adaptation developed by REDICE Studio released on August 1, 2024, with Dangdo writing the adaptation and Jin as the artist.

Solo Leveling can be read on multiple platforms including Tapas, Tappytoon, and Manta. Yen Press publishes the print version of both the webcomic and webnovel.
