You Are the Apple of My Eye, also known as 그 시절, 우리가 좋아했던 소녀 or The Girl We Loved Back Then, will begin its theatrical release in Korea on February 21, as announced via the film’s official Instagram.
The film premiered on October 3, 2024, at the Busan International Film Festival. Based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Taiwanese writer Giddens Ko, You Are the Apple of My Eye is a coming-of-age romance and a remake of the original Taiwanese film.
The story follows Jinwoo, played by Jung Jin-young (formerly of K-Pop group B1A4), as he navigates the highs and lows of adolescence with his friends. The group shares a mutual admiration for their elegant and beautiful classmate Seon-ah, portrayed by TWICE‘s Dahyun. Despite their contrasting personalities, Jinwoo and Seon-ah grow closer as their friendship deepens.
In addition to Jin-young and Dahyun, the cast includes Shin Jun-chul, Demian, Lee Min-goo, Kim Yo-han, Kim Min-ju, and Lee Seung-jun. This remake marks the feature directorial debut of Cho Young-myoung. According to Screen Daily, K-Movie Entertainment, known for handling the hit franchise The Roundup, holds the international sales rights.
You Are the Apple of My Eye will debut in Korean theaters this February. At present, there is no announcement about an international release.
