True Beauty has announced that the beloved trio Jugyeong, Suho, and Seojun are coming back for another season (and after that cliffhanger, thank goodness).
As part of their new year’s greetings, the True Beauty aeni (Korean animation) team revealed that Season 2 was “now in production.” They paired the announcement with a sweet image of the trio wearing traditional Korean clothes. At the time of writing, the team has not shared details about casting, staff, or the streaming date.
Yaongyi‘s series True Beauty enjoyed a live-action adaptation, which premiered in December 2020, with Moon Gayoung playing Jugyeong, Cha Eunwoo as Suho, and Hwang In-youp as Seojun. The drama aired for 16 episodes and ended in February 2021.
True Beauty follows Lim Jugyeong who has been relentlessly bullied by her family and classmates for looking “ugly.” Upon happening across some make-up tutorial videos on the Internet, Jugyeong is determined to give herself a glow-up so she doesn’t have to endure their cruel treatment anymore. She also transfers to a new school so she’ll have a brand new start. Soon, she’s acknowledged as the prettiest girl in school, but unfortunately, two people know her deep, dark secret: Lee Suho and Han Seojun, two of the most popular guys who have a deeply complicated relationship.
True Beauty ranks as one of WEBTOON‘s top titles, amassing one billion views on its platform and 7.5 million subscribers since debuting on the English platform in August 2018. The series is also available as a print version via WEBTOON Unscrolled.
Studio N and Cocktail Media produced Season 1 of the aeni, which is available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The platform will also stream Season 2 upon release. Fans can reread or start the series on WEBTOON. The drama can be watched on Rakuten Viki, Amazon Prime, and Netflix in select countries and territories.
