STUDY GROUP drama adaptation prepares for school in January 2025

The drama adaptation of the webtoon Study Group is getting ready for an action-packed first day.

TVING, a streaming platform, has released its latest trailer featuring seventeen-year-old Yoon Gamin. He looks like a stereotypical nerd, but Gamin isn’t as academically inclined as he looks although he hopes to be successful in his studies and go to a university when he graduates. The only thing he’s really good at is fighting.

Hwang Minhyun will star as Yoon Gamin while Han Ji Eun portrays Lee Han Kyung, a passionate teacher who yearns to make the school a better place and wholeheartedly supports Gamin’s decision to create a study group. Cha Woo Min plays the antagonist Pi Han Wool, the heir to the YB Group, and is one of the strongest fighters at the school.

Written by Shin Hyungwuk and illustrated by Ryu Seungyeon, Study Group is part of the Blue String Universe, which is YLAB’s second webtoon universe. The Blue String Universe focuses on teenagers and young adults. Similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Blue String Universe has characters and events from different webcomics crossing over to other webcomics within that universe.

Set in Yusung Technical High School—nicknamed the ‘school for future criminals’—Study Group follows Yoon Gamin as he fights to break the mold. But Yoon Gamin is determined not to be one of those students who land themselves in jail. Although an excellent fighter, he wants to hold a pencil, not someone’s neck. When Gamin’s former tutor comes to his high school to teach, the two work together to achieve their goals: Gamin with his dream of going to university and Han Kyung with her dream of getting her teaching license.

Study Group is available to read on WEBTOON. The drama adaptation releases on January 23 on TVING.
