Solo Leveling has dropped its final trailer before its Season 2 premiere. This trailer highlights scenes viewers can expect to see.
In the trailer, Jinwoo is determined to level up as quickly as possible so that he can acquire the elixir that can cure his ill mother. Season 2 will likely cover four arcs including the “Red Gate” and part of the “Jeju Island” arcs. Ling tosite sigure‘s TK will perform the ending theme song, “UN-APEX.” As previously announced, LiSA will perform the opening theme song “ReawakeR” featuring Stray Kids’ Felix.
Solo Leveling was originally written as a webnovel by Chugong which was first serialized on KakaoPage in July 2016. Webnovel licensed an English-language version in December 2018, and the webnovel is available digitally on Tapas and in print through Yen Press. The webnovel’s popularity inspired a webcomic adaptation illustrated by DUBU, which launched on KakaoPage in March 2018 and concluded in December 2021. Tapas and Tappytoon picked up the webcomic in 2020. From there, Solo Leveling‘s popularity soared astronomically and remains one of the top titles on the platforms.
The series received a green light for an anime adaptation, exciting both DUBU and Chugong. Unfortunately, DUBU passed away from a cerebral hemorrhage in July 2022 and didn’t live to see his work on screen. The anime premiered in January 2024 with Shunsuke Nakashige directing at A-1 Pictures and Noboru Kimura writing the scripts. The first season concluded in March 2024 and a second season was immediately announced for January 2025. Most recently, the anime scored the “Best Anime” award at the Astra Awards. To tide fans over until then, a compilation film called Solo Leveling -ReAwakening- was released which compiled the first season and included the first two episodes of Season 2.
Although the original series has finished, Solo Leveling‘s story still continues in a sequel starring Sung Jinwoo’s son, Su-ho, called Solo Leveling Ragnarok. Daul is writing the sequel and the webnovel was adapted into a webcomic with Dangdo writing the story and Jin as the artist.
Solo Leveling hits Crunchyroll on January 4.
